Microsoft Dynamics GP gives a great amount of flexibility for how you time your stock counts for items. Some fast moving, perishable items you may want to be counting on a weekly basis, while others only need to be counted every three to six months.

The Stock Count Cycle Assignment window lets you assign stock count intervals to your items.

Cards --> Inventory --> Count Cycle Assignments

Stock Count Interval Days: how many days between stock takes for items (note – this works in conjunction with the stock calendar).

Date and Time to Start Counting: this sets the first due date for the item grouping. Subsequent count due dates are then calculated.

Restrictions: use these options to find the grouping of items to assign the count interval and first count date to. Insert the restriction.

Details: this button becomes available once a restriction is selected and inserted. This lists the items included in the restriction. The listing will change as additional restrictions are added. Individual items can be deselected in this screen.

Once happy with the selection, click Process. A report will print to list the items added to the schedule and when the next count is due (note – this may be different from the date and time to start if the item has been counted more recently than the count interval days – i.e. if an item had been counted on 11/04/2017, it is next due 18/04/2017. If it hasn’t been counted at all, it is due 12/04/2017).
